With the Gallery plugin you can easily access all photos stored on the same machine where Squeezebox Server is running. No need to upload your beloved pictures to some online service!
Browse folders, check EXIF data, add photos to your favourites lists, and use those favourites as slideshows on your Squeezebox players (Touch, Radio, Controller). This plugin turns your Squeezebox Touch into a nice picture frame.
Important notice
Image handling requires powerful hardware. Don't try to run this plugin on your underpowered NAS unless you're very patient. Scaling down full size photos taken with your digital camera can take several seconds per image, rendering theoverall browsing experience awkward.... PC class hardware is recommended.
But there's a bit of hope. Squeezebox Server 7.6 will feature highly improved image handling routines. Resizing images will be much faster, and it'll optionally alow for pre-caching resized artwork. Look forward to it or take the plunge and give the nightly beta builds a try. But don't complain if it doesn't work as expected as long as it's beta. You've been warned.
Having said that I can tell you that I'm running Squeezebox Server 7.6 and the Gallery plugin on very modest PC class hardware (Via C3/1GHz). And I consider it fun to use. Anything you bought in the past 2-3 years might easily outperform this old box.
